Some of Jimmy Stewart’s Christmas movies are yearly traditions for many. Well, Jimmy Stewart has been nominated for Best Actor five times.  

Jimmy Stewart, or James Stewart, whatever you want to name him, is one of the most famous actors ever.

He has appeared in so many movies and a few Christmas movies. However, some of Jimmy Stewart’s Christmas movies are;

1. It’s A Wonderful Life (1946)

It’s a Wonderful Life follows the story of George Bailey, who has dedicated his life to serving the people of Bedford Falls.

Furthermore, he’s always wanted to travel but has never had the chance since he needs to stop Mr. Potter, a wealthy skinflint, from taking over the entire town.  

George’s tiny building and loan company, which his generous father started, also stands in his way.

However, George’s Uncle Billy loses the business’s $8,000 on Christmas Eve while depositing it at the bank.  

Potter locates the misplaced funds and conceals them from Billy. Later that night, when the bank examiner discovers the shortage, George realizes he will be held guilty and imprisoned.  

And the company will fail, allowing Potter to take over the town. However, he considers suicide, thinking that his wife, his minor children, and others he loves would be better off without him.  

But thanks to his loved ones’ prayers, a compassionate angel named Clarence comes to earth to assist George and promises to earn his wings.  

He demonstrates to George what life would have been like had he never been born. Starring Jimmy Stewart, Lionel Barrymore, Donna Reed, Henry Travers, Thomas Mitchell, and Beulah Bondi.  

2. Mr. Krueger’s Christmas (1980)

Mr. Krueger’s Christmas is also one of the best Jimmy Stewart Christmas movies ever.

It follows Willy Krueger, an elderly widower who lives alone in a basement flat with his cat George.  

Additionally, he goes out on Christmas Eve to buy a tree after finishing his day as the building’s janitor. 

On his way, he pretends to be a well-dressed gentleman while peeking through a store window along the icy street. 

Furthermore, when he gets home, he falls asleep while listening to an LP by The Mormon Tabernacle Choir and dreams of conducting them in Christmas carols.  

When he wakes up to find carollers outside his window, he invites them in with hot cocoa, but they only stay for one song.

Furthermore, he places the mittens left behind by Clarissa, the youngest of the caroling party, on the tree as he trims it.  

Willy finds himself in the manger for the first Christmas while handling figures from the tiny nativity beneath his tree.

However, he also discovers the genuine reason to rejoice as he prays to the infant Jesus.  

He thanked him for being his closest and best friend, who was with him during the first few hours after his wife Martha died, as well as other challenging moments.  

When the carollers return for the mittens, they realize they’ll need a bass voice to round out their singing before completing the evening with a turkey meal.

3. Bell Book And Candle (1958)

Gillian Holroyd is a modern-day witch based in Greenwich Village. When Shep Henderson, a publisher, moves into the apartment above hers, she develops an interest in him.  

Furthermore, Gillian employs her cat, Pyewacket, to perform a love spell on Shep after learning that he is set to marry her college rival, Merle Kittridge, the next day.  

In addition, Shep falls in love with Gillian immediately and breaks up with Merle the morning of their wedding.

Gillian arranges for author Sidney Redlitch to visit Shep in hopes of getting his next novel, about witches in New York, published. 

Furthermore, when Gillian discovers that her warlock brother, Nicky, is working with Sidney, she is concerned that Shep will find her true nature and the spell she has cast on him.  

Since Gillian has fallen in love with Shep, which would cause her to lose her powers, she must decide what she truly desires.

Starring Jimmy Stewart, Kim Novak, Janice Rule, Ernie Kovacs, Jack Lemmon, and Elsa Lanchester.  

4. The Shop Around The Corner (1940)

Last on our list of Jimmy Stewart Christmas Movies is the shop around the corner.

Mr. Hugo Matuschek owns the Matuschek and Company store in Budapest, Hungary, and bachelor Alfred Kralik is his best and most experienced salesperson.

Matuschek employs Klara Novak as a saleswoman in the store, but she and Kralik do not get along.  

Meanwhile, lonely and dedicated Kralik has an unknown pen buddy to whom he plans to propose shortly.

However, Matuschek fires him without explanation the night before he is to meet his hidden love. 

Furthermore, he gets to the pub where he and his colleague Pirovitch set their rendezvous and discover that Klara is his correspondent.

Additionally, he does not reveal his name to her after being released because he is ashamed.  

Meanwhile, Matuschek rehires Kralik for manager after discovering he had misunderstood him and made a mistake.

On the other hand, Klara is enthralled by her correspondent and pays little attention to Alfred.  

Furthermore, Alfred devises a strategy for revealing himself to Klara, for whom he has developed feelings now that he has seen behind her demeanor.

Starring James Stewart, Margaret Sullivan, Joseph Schuldkraut, Frank Morgan, Sarah Haden, and Felix Bressart.
